  1. I’d best not comment on two intelligent young ladies talking about knickers. Flaubert would have had something to say I suspect. I loved this tv adaptation with Robert Powell when I was a kid which led me to the book and some other Flaubert exploration. I’d like to crucify whoever commissioned Eastenders.
